Announcing a Live-streamed Seminar:
Economies of Care: A conversation about Cuba, equity, and the future
January 23, 1:00 – 3:00pm GMT
Hosted at the Atlantic Institute, Rhodes House, Oxford
What would it look like to re-design a society around the value of care? Today, we are confronted with western societies’ numerous shortcomings when it comes to caring for the elderly, children, the sick, and each other in equitable ways. And yet, if we look to new research on care and compassion, or to countries like Cuba that are operationalizing radically different social structures, we see that certain alternatives to the status quo could exist. Building on conversations that have taken place across two years of Cuba Platform convenings with Atlantic Fellows and other thought leaders, this live-streamed seminar will bring together perspectives from Cuba, the UK, and Africa for a lively and inspiring discussion about care and well-being, gender, and intersections with political economics.
To register and reserve your spot in either the live or remote audience, please fill out the linked form (registrants will receive a link to the livestream day-of)
The Platform for Innovation and Dialogue fosters connections and collaborations between Cuba and Atlantic Fellows. Our mission is to create space for important conversations regarding equity, empathy and the future.
